EDFO WP78 demineralizer
The “EDFO” method is a fairly scientific process that involves the use of various resins. These resins remove various impurities and minerals presented in tap water. With the WP78 kit, making your own demineralized water directly from the tap is simply a walk in the park.
The demineralizing process
Demineralizers, otherwise known as ion exchangers, are equipment that can hold ion exchange resins. The process, referred to as demineralization, is the exchange of the ions between a solid substance and an aqueous solution. The resins hold very small resin beads with an average diameter of 0.01 millimeter. Water is passed through this resin, which ensures that the impurities form hydrogen and hydroxyl ions that combine into pure water. After a certain period the beads will be exhausted and have to be either replaced or regenerated via a multi-step process.
When working with smaller amounts of water, simply replacing the beads is a better option. In this case, the WP78 demineralizer is the optimal choice. It can be attached into any cold water outlet and has a maximum flow rate of 45 L/h. The amount of water it takes before the beads have to be replaced depends on the input water quality. The cleaner the water, the longer the beads last.
Instruction
Directly connect the WP87 to a cold water outlet and run the tap to demineralize the water. When the color indicator indicates that the filling is exhausted (color changes from green to blue), switching out the resin filling is an easy and straightforward process. The kit consists of a cartridge holder (see photo) and two refills.

Water quality
The capacity and longevity of the WP78 depends on the input water quality. Some examples can be found below. However, these only serve as an indicator. A water analysis is required for a correct determination of the dH value.
